Weekend Travel

Last weekend, Along with my family we went around Sriperumbattur. The Main agenda was to be visit Ramanuja Temple and visit Mango Groove for fresh mangoes. We almost do this for last 4 year and we go normally at the end of the season, but don't know why!. After some brief shower over the last week, the setting was good and we went to the Groove first since it was mid noon and temples will be closed. After 1 hour of shopping at the Garden., we reached Sriperumbattur. We were told that the Temple will be opened at 4.00 pm.

Its time for coffee break and after the darshan, instead of returning back, we thought of visiting Madhuramangalam, which is around 20 km from Sriperumbattur towards Kanchipuram. We have to turn right at Sunguvar Chatram and further travel on the lonely road to Maduramangalam, a small hamlet. This is the birth place of Swami Embar, brother of Sri Ramanuja. A small Temple but neatly maintained and i think recently renovated. Swami Embar at this temple is believed to cure all eye alignment.

From there we have taken a detour to Singaperumal koil via old Chengalpattu Road which is around 20 km from Sriperumbattur.

The whole tour takes about 6 hours since we travel by car and workes out 120 km or so.
